A handfasting cord is a woven expression of intention, marking moments of commitment, transition, and meaningful change.
Each cord is created through traditional handcraft, where symbolism, structure, and meaning are considered as part of the making process.
These are not decorative items.
They are ritual objects created to hold significance within ceremony.
Cord Pathways
Within the Binding Line, there are three ways a cord may come into being. Each reflects a different relationship between maker, material, and meaning.

Legacy cords are singular works, created through intuitive making and established symbolic direction.

Each piece carries its own existing narrative, formed during creation.

These cords can not be altered or customised. Instead, they are chosen by resonance, drawn to the person or union whose story aligns with what the piece already holds.

Simple, crafted ritual forms

Essence cords are created with the same care and intention as all Binding Line work, but in a more accessible form. They offer a straightforward expression of ceremonial cord work, focusing on colour, structure, and presence.

Custom cords are created in direct collaboration with you.

The process begins with understanding the intention behind the cord, the ceremony, the transition, or the personal commitment being marked.

Through a guided questionnaire and conversation, symbolism, colour, and structure are developed to reflect your story.

Each cord is then individually handcrafted as a unique ritual object, created specifically for your moment.
Not all cords are for weddings.
Some mark personal thresholds, healing, renewal, self-commitment, or life transitions that do not fit traditional ceremony structures.
Commission Process
Custom cord creation is a guided process rooted in intention and symbolism.
From initial enquiry to final creation, each stage is shaped by clarity, communication, and craft.

One - Let's Chat
We’ll get to know each other—either in person, by email, video, or phone.
Two - Questionnaire
I’ll send a short questionnaire to learn more about your story.
Three - Mock-up & Story
I’ll create a small sample of your cord and write its story, based on your answers. (Note: the mock-up won’t be fully finished or include specialist charms.)
Four - Booking & Deposit
Once your cord consultation is finalised, I’ll send an invoice for a 25% non-refundable deposit to cover materials and design.
Five - Creation & Dispatch
After the deposit is paid, I’ll craft your cord. Most cords are ready in 3-4 weeks. You’ll get photos of your finished cord with the final invoice.
Once final payment is received, your cord will be posted by recorded delivery.
